RUKIGA

On 13th February 2024, a tragic accident occurred in Rubogo village, Kibanda parish, Kamwezi sub-county, in Rukiga district claiming a life of a one Muhairwe Amos. The incident occurred at approximately 4:00Pm. It is reported that Muhirwe, a resident of Rubogo village was taking his animals back home when he was struck from behind by an unknown speeding vehicle. Sadly, the impact was fatal, resulting in his untimely death.

The Kigezi police has identified the cause of the accide as reckless driving. The unknown driver of the speeding vehicle was allegedly responsible for the collision. The police have taken immediate action in response to this tragic event. The traffic team and officer-in-charge of Kamwezi visited the scene of the accident and documented the details and are conducting investigations into the incident.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi police PRO has told this paper that efforts are being made to locate and apprehend the driver responsible for the accident. Maate said the police is dedicated to ensuring that justice is served for the loss of Muhirwe Amos’ life. The investigation is still ongoing, with further inquiries being conducted to gather more information and gather evidence related to the case.
