Ahead of tomorrow’s (Tuesday July 4) closure of all the campaigns for Oyam North County Parliamentary by-election, big Wigs from the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) led by their president Hon  Jimmy Akena Camps have camped in Oyam to Campaign and canvas votes for their candidate Dr Apio Eunice Otuko.

The by-election in Oyam North County is scheduled for Wednesday 6th July 2023, and the UPC flagbearer, Dr. Apio is showing unwavering electoral support from voters of all walks of life including those from her rivalry camps majority from the ruling NRM.

It should be noted that since the campaigns begun on June 22, the Party President Hon. Jimmy Akena has been staying in Oyam and leading the campaign trail team mobilizing support for their candidate.

Today, the campaign trail again led by Akena flanked by the UPC big wigs campaigned in Aleka and Iceme Sub Counties and they recorded a tremendous turn up of voters.

Notwithstanding, a number of over 500 electorates in Oyam North County especially NRM supporters have converted to UPC since the campaigns started with 100 electorates from Abok subcounty crossing from NRM on a single day.

The UPC President also Lira City East Division MP Hon. Jimmy Akena, Hon. Maxwell Akora MP Maruzi County and National Party Treasurer, Hon. Ocan Patrick MP Apac Municipality are among the big wigs camping in Oyam today.

Others are Hon. Nelson Lemba Okello MP Maruzi County North, Hon. Kenny Auma MP Kwania District, Hon. Vincent Obong Eyit MP Lira City West, UPC 2021 Candidate for Woman MP Apac District Hon. Achola Suzan Engola, Apac Municipality Mayor Mr. Ongom Eyul, Regional Vice Chairperson of Lango and Mr. Ongom Chris, UPC Apac District Chairman among others.
