Joash Ssali, 37, the patron at Kasisi Day and Boarding primary school in Fort Portal is in police custody for allegedly sodomizing pupils.
He was picked from his hideout in Bugongi Sheema district after being tracked for close to a month by the joint security team from Rwenzori West and Fort Portal East Division.
It is alleged that Ssali, a resident of Gezi village, Misindika ward, Kyenjojo Town Council, Kyenjojo District, sexually molested a P3 pupil under his patronage while in the dormitory. The victim revealed to his mother who informed the school headteacher that reported the matter to police.
On June 19, police reported that the suspect has been making advances to the victim and molesting three other of pupils from the same school something that led to the suspects run.
“All the three victims were examined by a medical officer and only one was found positive,” police reported in June.
Police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga said on Monday (July 24) that the suspect was arrested and is under detention.
“We are happy to inform the public and parents of the victimized pupil that the territorial police in Rwenzori West and Fort Portal East Division managed to track down the patron of Kasisi Day and Boarding primary school Ssali Joash, 37, from his hideout in Bugongi Sheema district where he had been hiding,” SCP Enanga said
According to Enanga, the victim who tested positive was found with a raptured anus that proved penetration whereas other two victims were negative.
The victims have been subjected to pyscho-social support because they are psychologically traumatized.
Enanga condemned all forms of sexual violence in schools noting that the suspect will be held accountable and charged with his crimes of child sexual abuse, aggravated defilement and sodomy.
