Ugandan banker, Paul Bitature Muganwa has been named Stanbic Bank Uganda Executive Director, the Bank has announced.

The appointment followed a approval for the appointment of Muganwa as a member of the Board of Directors.

According to the bank, Muganwa’s appointment is in addition to his current role as Head of Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) at the same bank.

He becomes the third Executive Director of Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited Board after the appointment of Sam Mwogeza, Executive Director-Personal & Private Banking, and Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa, the Chief Executive, previously.

Previously, Muganwa worked in the banking industry in both Uganda and South Africa. With nearly two decades of banking experience, the bank says his leadership has been pivotal in driving the growth of Stanbic Bank Uganda’s CIB franchise over the last three years, including providing strategic direction which has reinforced the bank’s competitive position in the market.

Speaking on Muganwa’s appointment, the Stanbic Bank Uganda Board Chairperson, Damoni Kitabire said the appointment will enable the bank to achieve strategic vision for driving growth and CIB sustainability.

“Paul’s appointment is a testament to our commitment to strong leadership and succession planning. His wealth of experience, coupled with exceptional performance and strategic vision, will continue to drive growth, and sustain CIB’s market leadership.”

Meanwhile, the bank’s Chief Executive, Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa said thay they will leverage on Muganwa’s expertise in capital markets and other banking areas to improve on innovation in attending to clients needs.

“Paul’s appointment marks an exciting chapter for Stanbic Bank Uganda. His deep expertise in banking, particularly in corporate finance, capital markets, and investment banking remains an asset to our ability to deliver innovative solutions for our clients.”

The bank believes that Muganwa’s strategic appointment strengthens the leadership team and demonstrates the their commitment to building a strong succession talent pool at the executive level.
