A pickpocketer at Mbaguta street in Mbarara City has been killed in a mob justice after he allegedly picked a phone from a customer who had gone to buy construction materials at a hardware in Mbarara.
The incident occured at Mbaguta street on the junction to Mbarara High street in the mid afternoon hours on Friday.
Eye witnesses say that the suspect only identified as Black has been robbing people in the area, snatching bags, mobile phones and money purses from passersby and strange persons who come for transactions in the parts of the city.
The angry mob first stabbed the suspect in the chest and later clobbered him to death.
Police arrived at the scene of the crime to document it and the deceased body was taken to Mbarara hospital mortuary.
