Police in Kabale are holding four suspects in connection with the murder of a security guard at Albertine Hotel and several other robbery incidents.
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, has identified the suspects as Smith Arinda, 25, a resident of Kigore Village, Rubaya Sub-county in Kabale District, who was arrested in Mpigi District; Obed Akandwanaho, who was arrested in Mbarara; Owen Arinda, a resident of Bushuro Village, Kitumba Sub-county; and Mark Asasiira, 24, a resident of Mbarara.
It is alleged that on October 1, between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., the group carried out a series of attacks in which they murdered a security guard, critically injured Loyce Kanyoro, and stole her belongings. The group later raided the home of Sande Kenneth and stole a Toyota Premio, registration number UAB 471B, which they used to transport the stolen items.
Police recovered several items from one of the suspect’s home, Smith Arinda, including Car Ignition Key, mobile phones belonging to the victims, and a television screen from another suspect, Owen Ariinda.
Maate said that the suspects will be charged with murder, attempted murder, robbery and theft of property once investigations are complete.
