Anonymous police sources said Omara remains alive but in a critical condition, dismissing widespread social media reports claiming he had died.

Omara, who served as the North Kampala police operations commander during the protests, gained notoriety for his aggressive tactics against opposition figures. After retiring from the police, he took up the position of Deputy CEO at Arrow Security Services, a private firm owned by Capt. Mike Mukula.

In 2024, the Uganda Police Force Director of Health Services, AIGP Dr. Moses Byaruhanga, visited Omara and pledged that police would cover his medical expenses.

Police have reiterated that Omara is alive and continue to monitor his condition closely.
