ENTEBBE
Police have attributed a fatal road crash along Entebbe Road to the alleged loss of control by the driver of a Toyota Hilux.
The crash, which occurred at about 2:00am on Friday at Namulanda near Stabex, claimed the lives of two Next Media employees, Badru Kasirye, a producer for NBS TV’s UnCut Kalakata show, and Isaac Ndamagye, the station’s social media person.
Another person, Brian “Makona” Ssemanda sustained injured and is receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at Kisubi hospital.
SP Michael Kananura, the police traffic spokesperson, said the crash involved a Toyota Hilux, registration number UAS 976W, and a Toyota Allex, registration number UA 779DE.
It is alleged that the Hilux was travelling from Entebbe towards Kampala when its driver allegedly lost control while approaching the Stabex area.
Police said the vehicle drifted into the opposite lane before colliding head-on with the oncoming Toyota Allex.
Kasirye and Ndamagye died at the scene, while Ssemanda was rushed to hospital for medical attention.
Next Media confirmed the deaths and said Ssemanda remained in the ICU under close monitoring by his medical team.
The exact circumstances and cause of the crash remain unknown, but police said investigations are underway.
“Further details will be communicated as soon as the inquiries are concluded,” SP Kananura said.
