BUSHENYI
Police in Bushenyi district have launched investigations into a violent robbery incident in which ten people were allegedly attacked and robbed of money and mobile phones in Ishaka Division on the night of October 9, 2025.
According to the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Tayebwa Apollo, the attacks occurred in Katungu Cell, Bwegiragye, and Ibaare areas within Ishaka Division. Several victims sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Kampala International University (KIU) Teaching Hospital in Ishaka.
“The police swiftly responded to the information and managed the scenes of crime as per standard procedure,” SP Tayebwa said in a statement issued on Friday.
Preliminary findings indicate that all the areas where the victims were attacked had no street lights or CCTV cameras, a situation police say could have made it easier for the robbers to operate undetected.
“We sympathise with all the victims and wish the injured a quick recovery,” SP Tayebwa added. “We also appeal to members of the public to remain vigilant and take necessary safety precautions to ensure their security.”
Police have intensified intelligence-led patrols in the affected areas and are engaging relevant authorities to have CCTV cameras and security lights installed.
SP Tayebwa urged anyone with credible information about the culprits to share it confidentially with the police, assuring the public that updates on the ongoing investigation will be communicated in due course.
