BUSHENYI
An opinion poll conducted ahead of the 2026 General Elections indicates overwhelming support for the incumbent Bushenyi District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Katusiime Annet Mugisha, popularly known as KAM.
The survey, which sampled 12,000 registered voters across all 17 sub-counties, town councils and divisions in Bushenyi District, shows Katusiime commanding 75.6 per cent of voter support. Her closest challenger, Ms Vian Kemigisha Kashaya alias Nyamunyonyi, trails with 21.8 per cent, while other prospective candidates collectively account for 2.6 per cent.

According to the poll organisers, respondents were selected through random sampling and assessed on voter preference, candidate performance and key factors influencing electoral choice.
The findings place Katusiime in a decisive lead and mirror recent political trends in the district. During the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primary elections, the incumbent secured 62 per cent of the vote, a performance the poll suggests has since strengthened.
Respondents who expressed support for Katusiime cited her presentation of what they described as a clear and convincing manifesto aligned with the NRM national agenda, as well as a positive assessment of her performance during the current term. Many said they were confident she would deliver more if re-elected.
By contrast, some respondents raised reservations about Ms Kemigisha pointing to what they termed inconsistent messaging and the absence of a clear manifesto. Others expressed concern over her perceived limited physical presence in the district, saying this could translate into absentee representation if elected.

The poll organisers emphasised that these views reflect voter perceptions captured during the survey period.
With the 2026 General Elections approaching, the opinion poll positions Katusiime as the clear front-runner in the Bushenyi District Woman MP race, with voter preferences largely driven by track record, manifesto clarity and perceived commitment to the district.
