KAMPALA
House of Prayer Ministries International (HPMI) lead pastor, Alosius Bugingo has been reportedly shot at in a likely premeditated shooting this evening.
Reports indicate that unknown assailants armed with guns shot at the pastor as he was being driven to his home. The shooting incident occured in areas of Nansana.
“Unknown gunmen have this evening attacked Pastor Bujjingo’s car as the pastor was on his way home,” read a message on different social media platforms.
Further reports indicate that the pastor’s driver (identity undisclosed) was shot dead during the incident.
Bugingo currently admitted at Mulago Hospital for emergency treatment.
No official communication has been released by the police and or the church regarding the shooting incident.
Pr. Bugingo is a renown evangelist and mediapreneur turned political critic against opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who he has on several occasions attacked in his live sermons accusing him of fighting national development and “misleading” many youth through his political campaigns.
The pastor is also known for rubbing shoulders with the youth political group, MK Movement commanded by the first son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who since the 2021 general elections has expressed interests in running for presidency.
Additionally, Bugingo has not been in good terms with fellow pastors in Kampala including Christian Focus Church pastor, Bishop David Livingston Kiganda and Makerere Kavule based pastor, Jackson Ssenyonga of Christian Life Church with whom they have in the recent past exchanged bitter utterances.
