The president of the Republic of uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has promised to fund youth led innovations in uganda
The president made this revelation While officiating the 4th Youth Business Forum and expo at kololo Ceremonial grounds yesterday.
“ I will have a meeting with your leaders so that we can discuss the funding for your innovations of course, there is already money in Uganda Development Bank , we are putting that money there but why can’t the youth access it? “ Museveni said
The president also expressed his gratitude to the youth for waking up and starting to come up with ideas and solutions to Uganda’s problems
“ l’m glad that you have now woken up and you are not going to be like your ancestors who were asleep and that is what the National Resistance has been trying to do right from the time of the bush to wake up our people.we said you people you can do it” he Added
He said that With economies you should start with human needs like food growing, processing and storage. You cannot go wrong there if you are anywhere in that chain.
The president further advised the youth innovators and entrepreneurs that as they use science to solve the societal problems, they need to cluster their products and then check on their demand within Uganda, Africa and globally, before assuring them of a common market for Africa.
The ceremony which attracted different leaders including the European Union Ambassador to Uganda H.E Jan Sadek who said that European Union recognises the importance Of youth entreprenuership and innovation and is committed to supporting the youth in Uganda towards economic empwerment.
The Minister of State for Investment and Privatization Hon. Evelyn Anite commended President Museveni for the excellent work he has done for Uganda that he has enabled the country remain Stable for 37 years
“I also thank you for innitiating the industrial Zonal Hubs under State House aimed at skilling the youth and empwering them to become better citizens” Anite added
The National Youth Member of Parliament And chairperson of the Parliamentary Forum on Youth Affairs ,Hon. Phionah Nyabutoro thanked the President for supporting the youth in the country and assured him at as leaders they’ll continue building entrepreneurship spirit among young people so that the economy thrives.
The theme of this year’s Forum was “Building Sustainable Strategic. Partnerships and Policy Frameworks for Supporting Youth Innovations andStartups “ which was inline with bringing together hundreds of young people involoved in manufacturing, innovation and those in production.
