The Managing Director of National Water and Sewage Corporation (NWSC), Eng. Silver Mugisha has advised the public to ensure regular cleaning of underground and overhead water tanks in their communities and on commercial buildings to ensure a healthy water system in the country.
Dirty water storage facilities compromise the quality of water in the country according to Eng. Mugisha.
“We implore our customers to clean their household overhead tanks because without it, it compromises our quality of water. NWSC has very good water quality experts that oversee water quality at production level, distribution and lastly our final consumer to make sure water is safe and clean, ” he said.
He made remarks while appearing on NBS Television Morning Breeze show earlier this day.
During the show, the managing director said the corporation is determined to ensure access to safe water to all Ugandans especially in areas that are not under their jurisdiction.
“Our goal is to ensure the person paying for jericans of water can have access to piped water.” NWSC MD, Eng Mugisha said
“It hurts us seeing Ugandans being charged Ugx500 shillings or also to have jerican of water especially in areas not under Jurisdiction of NWSC, ” he added.
Additionally, Eng. Mugisha commended the government for continuing to support the corporation which he says has fostered extension of access to clean and safe water to Ugandans. He retaliated efforts to engage with the ministry of finance to pay them last year’s arrears so that they are able to facilitate the corporation activities.
“We will continue to engage Ministry of finance to pay arrears by government to NWSC; we are very happy about their commitment to pay us,” Eng. Mugisha explained.
