NTUNGAMO
The Ntungamo District Health Educator, Mr. Nesterio Twesigye, has called for collective efforts from the public to combat non-communicable diseases in the district by following President Museveni’s seven tips on immunization. The diseases in focus include asthma, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, measles, and rubella, among others.
During an engagement meeting at Rubaare Health Centre IV, attended by Village Health Teams, local council members, lay readers, and other stakeholders, Mr. Twesigye emphasized the importance of regular medical checkups. He stressed that early detection and treatment of diseases can prevent untreatable conditions that often lead to palliative care.
Mr. Twesigye also issued a stern warning to cult religions spreading myths and misconceptions about government programs on non-communicable diseases, stating that they would be held accountable for their actions.
Echoing Mr. Twesigye’s sentiments, the Assistant District Health Educator and TB advocate, Mr. Robert Ochom, highlighted the importance of immunization, particularly in children, to improve healthcare outcomes.
All participants at the meeting pledged to disseminate the message about the importance of President Museveni’s seven tips on immunization to the masses, aiming to enhance public health and prevent non-communicable diseases.
