On Friday 5th September 2025, Rwenzururu Kingdom launched the running kit for the first-ever Omusinga Birthday Run at Bwiranda Hotel in Kasese Municipality.
During the event, Owekitsumbi Baritazale Kule Benson, the Rwenzururu Kingdom Premier, announced that Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu is undertaking key initiatives, including the establishment of Nzururu FM (Omulenge Wekithwe) radio station and the OBR One Stop Centre Cultural Tourism Village.
“To fund these strategic projects, the OBR leadership, in consultation with His Majesty Omusinga, has organized the Omusinga Birthday Run, set for November 14, 2025,” the Premier stated.
A steering committee, chaired by Owekitsumbi Tumusiime Yona, the OBR Minister for Protocol and Palace Affairs, and deputized by Owekitsumbi Kanyonyi Geoffrey, the Kingdom Spokesperson, has been formed to oversee the event.
Tumusiime Yona, the Chairperson of the Omusinga Birthday Run organizing committee, explained that the run will include three race categories: 21km, 10km, and 5km, starting and finishing at Crescent Road near Skyz Lounge in Kasese Municipality.

- Cap: UGX 15,000

Kiiza Alexander, CEO of the Kasese Tourism Investors Forum, praised OBR for its role as a cultural custodian in establishing the cultural village.
