KAMPALA
A private security guard attached to Tiger Security Group has reportedly swallowed a simcard to interfere with investigations after police linked him to criminal groups terrorizing areas of Kaleerwe and Wandegeya.
Ivan Okello, 22 and his accomplices were arrested in gambling activities during the early hours of the morning.
Immediately when police arrested him, he removed SIM cards from his mobile phone and swallowed one of the cards in an attempt to conceal evidence.
He aroused suspicions to police which swiftly forced him to eject another simcard he still had in the mouth.
ASP Rogers Musana said that the recovered SIM card will be subjected to scrutiny to help in investigations.
ASP Musana decried emerging of new criminal groups in Kalerwe that engage inhouse break-ins, street robberies involving the theft of valuables, including smartphones, bags, and laptops.
He threatened to apprehend more suspects involved in these criminal activities.
