The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has called on Christians and security personnel across the country to remain vigilant as they prepare to celebrate Easter, warning that the festive period often comes with increased security risks.
Christians are expected to mark Easter Sunday this weekend, one of the most significant days on the Christian calendar. However, the opposition party is urging the public not to let celebrations lower their guard.
Speaking on behalf of the party, UPC Head of Communications Faizo Muzeeyi cautioned that criminals frequently take advantage of such holidays to target unsuspecting individuals.

Muzeeyi explained that during festive seasons like Easter, many people become relaxed as they gather with family and friends, attend church services, and travel, creating opportunities for theft and other forms of crime.
He emphasized the need for both individuals and security agencies to remain alert at all times.
Muzeeyi advised the public to safeguard their property, avoid displaying valuables in crowded areas, and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
At the same time, he called upon security personnel to strengthen patrols and ensure the safety of citizens during the celebrations.
UPC urged christians to celebrate responsibly while prioritizing their personal security and that of their communities.
