The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anitah Among has expressed admirations for a successful separation of siamese twins by a team of Medic surgeons at Mbarara hospital.
“I want to congratulate the medical team from Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for successfully separating conjoined twins.” Among said
Among made remarks on Tuesday during a plenary sitting at parliament.
In her comments, Among was quoted saying; ” It gives us pride when such complicated surgeries can be performed in our regional hospitals.”
Last week on Friday, a team of medical doctors at Mbarara Referral Hospital successfully separated conjoined twins on the umblical cord.
The weighing 3.5kgs each twins were last week delivered at Ruharo Mission hospital and later Referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where they’re seperated.
Dr. Deus Twesigye, a Senior Consultant General Surgeon who led the team of doctors says they were delivered at 33 weeks contrary to the 40 weeks of normal delivery.
He says because they were born prematurely they were placed in the neonatal intensive care unit noting that they need a lot of attention and are complying with the medication.
