BUSHENYI
St. Agnes Girls’ Secondary School Bushenyi has celebrated a significant milestone as they marked their 20th anniversary of educating the girl child. Situated in the heart of Ishaka Bushenyi municipality in western Uganda, the school was established in 2003 by a group of visionary individuals including Mr. Manyire Edgar, Fr. Birungi Vicent, Fr. Felix Tumuhaise, and Mr. Kiberu Nsubuga Charles.
The anniversary celebrations were a joyous occasion for all school directors, students, and stakeholders. The events included a thanksgiving mass, recognition of academic achievers from the previous year, and a reunion of past students. The festivities kicked off with a lively convoy march led by the Kitabi Seminary brass band, parading from the school grounds to Ishaka town and back.
The old girls of the school also played a vital role in the celebrations by offering career guidance to current students and organizing fun activities such as a campfire session and the election of a new Old Girls’ Association cabinet. In a generous gesture, the former students presented a cheque of eleven million, one hundred eighty thousand Ugandan shillings for the purchase of science laboratory equipment.
Dr. James Musinguzi and Hon. Katusiime Annet Mugisha, the woman member of parliament for Bushenyi district, graced the occasion as the chief guest and guest of honor respectively. St. Agnes Girls’ Secondary School has not only excelled academically but has also played a crucial role in shaping the character of the girl child over the past two decades.
The vicennial celebration was a testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to providing quality education and empowering young women. As St. Agnes Girls’ Secondary School looks towards the future, it continues to nurture and inspire the next generation of female leaders and scholars.
