NTUNGAMO

The clarity follow a series of circulating misinformation reports regarding the relationship between the victims, emphasizing that the tragic accident involved unrelated individuals

In a statement issued by the seminary Rector, Mbusa was driving from Ntungamo, transporting his son, Athwanzire Frank David (S.1) home for holidays, and had offered a ride to Maate, a friend to his son who was headed to Kasese.

“In the same vehicle, he carried our other student destined for Kasese,” seminary administration said in a statement.

Unfortunately, they were involved in a road crash at Muhokya Town along Mbarara – Kasese Highway.

Mbusa died instantly while Maate Mathias Karamayi, succumbed to injuries at Mt. St. Mary’s hospital where he had been rushed for treatment.

The sole survivor, Athwanzire Frank David (S.1), Mbusa’s son, sustained a fracture to his right leg but is in stable condition.

A family member also clarified on the victims’ relationship, stating that Maate was a classmate and friend to Mbusa’s son.

“Maate is not a son to David,” a family member told Parrots Media. “…was studying at the same school with David’s son, so he was from picking them from school Maate is my Brother.”

David Remigius Mbusa, St. Augustine Minor Seminary parent who perished in a fatal road crash on Thursday together with a student while returning from school for holidays. One occupant of the vehicle (Mbusa’s son) survived with serious injuries.

Maate’s will be buried on Saturday (August 16), while Mbusa’s funeral arrangements will be announced later.

The seminary has called on the community to pray for the bereaved families.

Police said they’re investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. May the souls of the deceased rest in peace
