Body of the killed suspected ADF who was killed by the Updf troops in Kibaale forest reserve on December 27, 2023.

Few days later, the rebels launched fresh attacks in the neighbouring village of Nyabitusi 1, still in Kamwenge district which claimed lives of three people who they killed and their house set on fire.

The attacks prompted the national army, UPDF to launch operations to pursue the suspected remnants of these attacks.

Col. Deo Akiiki, the forces deputy spokesperson said on Wednesday, they managed to put out of action one person suspected to be among the rebels.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, in his Christmas Message said last month attack was conducted by 4 killers believed to be the remnants of the Njovu-Kamusu group of 10 that entered Uganda from DRC Congo, some weeks ago.

“They had crossed back to Congo but came back. They are the group that killed the children of Lubhiriha SSS in Nyabugaando Bweranyangi Kasese, killed the two tourists and their driver, and burnt the onion truck,” he said.

Col. Akiiki however, said Updf is still hunting down the suspects to ensure stability in the region.
