Three suspects have been arrested for the murder of 50-year-old woman in Kayonza, Kanungu.
The suspects whose identity is still withheld on Sunday night (July 2) allegedly strangled Hamlet Tusasibwe, a resident of Nyamishamba village, Kayonza subcounty, Kanungu district accusing her of witchcraft.
The body of the deceased was discovered on Monday morning (July 3) by his son, Onesmus Atuzarirwe, 12yrs, who had gone to check on his mother early in the morning before he could proceed to his casual works.
It is reported that when Atuzarirwe reached home, he found the front door open but nobody could respond to his endless calls.
On entering the bedroom, he found his mother lying dead in a pool of blood with signs of triangulation.
The killers hit Tusasibwe with a blunt object on the left forehead and later strangled her using a piece of cloth which was found in her necks.
Further reports indicate that prior to her murder, the deceased had been accused of witchcraft by some residents and the Kayonza police station Officer in Charge had conducted three community policing meetings in Nyamishamba over similar allegations. This raises suspicions of the stressful murder.
Police arrived at the scene of the crime, documented it and arrested three suspects at the scene.
