Thousands of people who turned up at Mimbere's home coming in Kasese

His majesty King Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngomahas returned in Rwenzururukingdom following his release on 13th June 2023.

The Omusinga (king) was barred from accessing his kingdom as part of his bail conditions after he was charged with treason, murder, attempted murder and other charges.

This followed his arrest and detention during the raid by joint security forces on his palace in November 2016.

But with the charges dropped, the king has returned to his kingdom, something that has excited his subjects.

The king’s home coming attracted different people from all walks of life including:Kasese,Bundibugyo,Kabarole,

Bunyangabu,Kampala among others. People started gathering in Kasese town three days before and several dancing groups were centered at various trading centers across Rwenzori region a situation moving viral on various social media platforms including Facebook, tiktok, YouTube among others.

Today morning thousands thronged Kasese airfield to wait for King Charles because the chairman OBR Privy Council Walemba Nathaniel Mumbere had earlier indicated that the king would come by plane.

According to the research made by our reporter, many people stayed without food the whole day but all the same were happy.

While addressing the audience this evening, his majesty king Charles Wesley Mumbere Irama-Ngoma applauded the people of Rwenzuru for their unending love towards the kingdom.

The king further applauded officials including legislators in the district for staying close during the herd times the kingdom passed through.

He also acknowledged cultural leaders for upholding the kingdom even when it has financial challenges but persist in ensuring that our identity stands.

The king finally appreciated God for laying off the burden of charges that were slapped against him with others.

Rt Bishop of the church of Uganda south Ruwenzori diocese, Zerebende Thembo Jackson on behalf of religious leaders praised God for causing such a happiness in Rwenzori region and said that in this rebranded kingdom the Obusinga should have ministry that will coordinate church leaders to the kingdom.

Zerebende tasked everyone in the kingdom to support all the programs that will be laid down to uplift the kingdom to the next level.

He also exposed that the kingdom before long will launch five point program which includes tourism, peace building, reconciliation, developmental cultural norms and empowering education, to shine the kingdom and bean example of a good tourist home in Uganda.

However, he cautioned anyone involved in dangerous activities among others drunkenness, acts of stealing to stop because there is no development in them.

Honorable Sowedi Kitanywathe MP Busongora North constituency, noted that unity, peace, mindset change, reconciliation and social economic transformation are key issues to look at if we want to rebrand the kingdom.

The MP for Busongora south constituency, Gideon Tembo Mujungu applauded government for releasing the king together with others.

Mujungu adds that though we shall keep remembering what happened on this kingdom, he implored the subjects of the Rwenzururu kingdom to reconcile and start anew journey which should aim at developing the kingdom.

He advised the kingdom at large to focus on loving one another, stop tribalism, work together as children of one family as we start anew chapter.

He also commended government for proposing to develop the Kasese airstrip which he said will help much to the development of the kingdom.

The opposition forum for democratic change party leader in Kasese district Mr. Saul Mate, advised government to never interrupt some people who will subsequently bring gifts to the king because they have not got a chance of welcoming him today.

The woman MP Kasese district Florence Kabugho in her comment to the media said that even though happiness is everywhere in the kingdom, government should consider the renovation of the palace since it was the one which bombed it.

Florence also tasked government to involve the recently released royal guards, widows who lost their husbands during the 2016 attack and orphans in government programs including PDM Emyooga among others.

Christopher Kibanzanga Bwambale the chief prince asked the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu subjects to forget the seven years of pain but focus on anew re branded kingdom.

Christopher added that the coming of King Charles back to his kingdom is an indication of reconciliation with government powers which he said will pave a bright future for the young children in the kingdom.

Locals who were bursting with happiness at the home coming of the king, praised God for his unending love, saying they had grown weary but because of God’s he has brought back the king.

Some confessed that it was there first time to see the aircraft landing at a close distance, added that there is no measure to count their joy deep down in their hearts.

 

The Kasese district boss Erifazi Muhindi Bukombi, confirmed the arrival of his majesty and said God has made it.

After a majestic welcome at the airfield along Kasese-fort portal road, all the people in thousands matched in unison and convened at golf- post in basecamp Kasese municipality from where other important speeches from different dignitaries were made officially.
