A devastating road accident occurred on the Fort Portal-Kampala Highway on Tuesday, July 2, leaving three individuals in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place at Kaihura in Kyenjojo when a bus operated by Poko Poko Coaches (registration number UAQ 226W) attempted to overtake a trailer (registration number 7881F19) traveling from the Democratic Republic of Congo to Kampala.
In an attempt to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle, the bus driver reversed the bus, which subsequently collided with a trailer.
The three critically injured casualties were rushed to Buhinga hospital in Fort Portal for urgent medical attention.
“Four additional individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a healthcare facility in Kyenjojo for treatment,” said eyewitnesses.
Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported. An investigation into the accident is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances and causes of the incident.
