The mother has been identified as Tumusiime Scovia, yesterday went to the hospital to see her child after residents told her that her child was abandoned at Fort Portal hospital.
Filled with tears of joy flowing on her cheeks, Tumusiime dismissed allegations that she is the one that abandoned her child at the hospital explaining that she was separated from her child two years ago after the husband took the child from the mother.
She alleged that her husband might have masterminded the game to abandon at the hospital.
On November 4, Parrots UG published a story of Tukamuhebwa Lucia, a disabled girl-child who was allegedly abandoned by her mother at Fort Portal referral hospital and a search for the parents had commenced.
Juliet Batamurize, a social worker at the hospital, has confirmed to reports that the mother of the child has been identified and reunited with her child. She said that the child was abandoned at the hospital by an unknown person but not her biological mother as earlier purported.
Batamurize has urged Ugandans of goodwill, NGOs to extend support to Tumusiime because she is a single mother with no permanent job and place of residence. She says that she needs financial assistance to enable her support her family with basic needs.
