The police in kasangati have confirmed the arrest and detention of three suspects in connection with a series of thefts that have been happening in the area.
The suspects who have been identified as katongole Richard,Matovu Amon and Musasizi Peter were arrested on 10th April 2026 after unknown individuals reportedly jumped over the fence of Otto N and vandalized his motor vehicle at around 0300hrs.
”In the early hours of 10th April 2026, at about 0300 hours, unknown individuals reportedly jumped over the fence of Otto N. and vandalised his motor vehicle, making away with parts. At around 0700 hours, the victim reported the incident at Canan Police Post and requested for canine support”.The police statement reads in part.
The police have confirmed that upon reporting the incident at canine police post by the victim and requesting for canine support at around 0700hours,a team of police officers, accompanied by a canine unit, promptly responded to the scene which had been well preserved to aid investigations.the police have confirmed that after the introduction of dog No.T/P 266 Navara was introduced to the scene, successfully picked up a scent and tracked it for approximately 400 meters,led the officers to Matovu Amon and into a garage where another suspect katongole Richard was found and later revealed that the garage belonged to Musasizi Peter another suspect connected to the case.
A subsequent search of the premises resulted in the recovery of several suspected stolen side mirrors and other motor vehicle parts believed to have been taken from different motor vehicles.subsquently,the police have confirmed that the arrested suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
According to the Annual police crime report of 2026,KMP North where kasangati lies,ranked third in crime distribution registering 13,340 cases behind Rwizi region with 13,416 cases and KMP South ranking first with 13,950 cases.
