A security guard has been hacked, pump attendant and neighbours hurt following robbery at Magum Petroleum in Buikwe.
The incident occured in the ewee morning hours of Tuesday at around 3AM in Kitega, Buikwe district.
According to reports, a group of unknown thugs armed with machetes and sticks attacked the petrol station and started cutting and beating workers at using pangas and sticks. The workers made an alarm which attracted the neighbours.
Two persons were seriously injured and they include Mohammed Abiriga, 55, a security guard who later died as he was being rushed to the hospital, and Eculu Solomon, 27, a pump attendant.
The thugs later turned to the neighbours who had opened their houses to intervene and also injured some. The injured neighbours are Hakim Zziwa 33, Umar Masikini, Katubgano David, Kaganda Innocent 53 and Mutebi Muhammed, 28.
A worker who survived the attack, Ewat George told reports that the thugs walked away with unknown amount of money which they stole from the injured pump attendant.
The Ssezibwa region police spokesperson, Hellen Butoto says that police is investigating the incident.
Magnum Petroleum robbery comes a week after another group of thugs attacked Mogas fuel station in Mpigi town injured workers and went away with largesums of money and a gun that was being used by the Askari however, the gun was later recovered.
