Nakasongola
Police in Nakasongola District have launched a manhunt for unknown thugs who broke into the Finca Uganda branch in Nakasongola Town and stole over Shs192 million, along with laptops and other valuable items.
The daring robbery is believed to have occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 23, 2025, but was only discovered the next morning on Tuesday at around 7:00 a.m., when the branch manager reported for duty and found the bank premises had been broken into.
According to Savannah Regional Police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima, the criminals made off with a total of Shs192,587,800, two laptops, and several other yet to be specified items.
“The branch manager immediately contacted police, who responded to the scene and began investigations, including recording statements from key witnesses,” Twiineamazima told journalists on Wednesday.
He also confirmed that four individuals have so far been arrested to assist with investigations into the incident. Their identities have not been revealed as inquiries are still ongoing.
At the time of the break-in, the bank premises were reportedly being guarded by SGA Security, a private security company. It remains unclear how the thugs managed to bypass the security and access the premises.
Finca Bank Uganda has not yet issued an official statement regarding the robbery. Police continue to urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
