  • The Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, has urged party District Administrators to engage in the identification and recruitment of young individuals. He emphasized that these young people are essential to maintaining the ruling party’s strength, vibrancy, and competitiveness.

Accompanied by the National Treasurer, Ambassador Barbara Nekesa, Todwong addressed a gathering of over 150 NRM district administrators who had convened at the party’s national headquarters located at Plot 10, Kyadondo Road, Nakasero. During the meeting held on a Thursday, he emphasized the significance of their role in shaping the party’s future.

Todwong highlighted, “In your capacity as our technical personnel at the district level, I urge you to employ innovative approaches to capture the interest of young individuals and encourage them to align with our cause. Your responsibilities encompass analyzing political trends and furnishing the Secretariat with insights to facilitate effective interventions.”

“It is through such concerted efforts that we (NRM) can bolster our resilience, allure, and longevity,” SG Todwong underscored.

Considering the forthcoming 2026 general elections, as outlined by the electoral commission roadmap, Todwong directed administrators to prepare for upcoming party initiatives, including the election of party structures and the verification of NRM electoral registers. This strategic preparation, he emphasized, would prevent any unanticipated setbacks.

Todwong further extended a challenge to the Administrators, urging them to foster unity and cohesion among all party members. He advised them to maintain impartiality, refraining from taking sides in the event of disagreements among party affiliates.

He stipulated, “Remain accessible and approachable in your roles, promoting reconciliation and addressing the concerns of our steadfast supporters.”

Todwong also appealed to leaders to initiate the practice of compiling and submitting monthly political reports to the secretariat. These reports should encompass the performance of government programs and service delivery. He emphasized that such information would serve as a valuable resource for strategic planning.

The meeting was graced by notable figures including the Deputy National Treasurer, Hon. Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, Director of External Affairs, Maj. (Rtd) Awich Pollar, and Director of Legal Services, Counsel Enoch Barata.
