President Museveni is optimistic that contacts with Truck drivers may lead to the contract of corona virus to uninfected persons.
“Its clear, one of the remaining sources of the disease are the truck drivers within Uganda and the rest of East Africa. I’m told that Ugandans are very angry with them,” Museveni said.
The President while speaking using the 2017 Amendment of Article 102b slogans if “Gikwateko” and “Togikwatako,” warned Ugandan daughters dealing in sex for money not to get into contacts with the drivers in order to avoid getting contacted with COVID-19.
“And another thing on you Ugandans especially my daughters not to get into contacts with the drivers, “Tokwatako” keep a distance,” he alluded.
Museveni was addressing the press on COVID-19 updates in which he urgedUgandans not to be rude on truck drivers from neighbouring countries.
He also expressed that he ordered the task forces in areas where these sex workers operate to extend aid to them other than being handicapped on to truck drivers.
Government set regulations for truck drivers to adhere to before entering in the country. Accordingly, drivers will have to undergo a mandatory COVID-19 tests and whoever tests positive shall be put under quarantine, the transporter be informed to send another driver or to stop at the border points for a Ugandan driver to proceed the truck to the designated market.
Those found negative shall be allowed entry. Also, trucks will have to go full virus infestation. However, some groups of truck drivers from Kenya protested the regulations saying they risk their goods to be stolen by Ugandan drivers.
