The Uganda Peoples Congress Party has called upon the government to immediately carry out sensitisation programs against ebola virus.
The call has been made by the party spokesperson Arach Oyat Sharon during their weekly press breefing at Uganda house in kampala on Wednesday.
She proposes for the translation of all information and communication materials on ebola virus into local languages which can be understood by the populace.
“We call upon the government to reactivate innitiatives which have been undertaken before in the fight against viral outbreaks, this includes extensive sensitization in various ways of prevention of ebola, translation of information and communication materials in different languages to make sure the less educated understand the message on the fight agsinst the disease” Oyat said
Ebola disease needs full awareness and cooperation from the society in regard to preventive measures and provide availed treatment on time, she added.
UPC further demands that government and the ministry of health should provide enough personal protective Equipment so as to reduce the infeststion of health workers in ebola treatment hospitals.
Ebola was first confirmed on 20th September 2022 in Mubende with current cases reported in other districts such as kyegegwaa, kassanda and recently Kampala where a death case was reported yesterday. A total of 48 ebola cumulative cases, 7 deaths and 14 recoveries have been so far recorded, according to the ministry of Health.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to address the nation on Ebola updates today evening at state house lodge, Nakaseero at 8pm.
