More than 15 people are trapped under the rubble after a building collapsed on Saturday night in Kansanga Kampala.
The 6 storeyed building which collapsed was under construction in Nanganda, Kiwempe Zone Kansanga in Kampala few metres after Kansanga Miracle Centre Church.
Luke Iwoyesigire, the Deputy Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan PolicePolice saiofone person identified as Alex Kabanda was rescued but its alleged that more than 15 people who were working at the site are feared dead.
“One person identified Alex Kabanda has so far been rescued but its alleged that more than 15 people who were working at the site are feared dead.”
However, by press time, two bodies had been retrieved as search for others is underways.
Piece Fire & Rescue services are already at the scene trying to identify others who are suspected to be stuck.
Kansanga is known for collapsing buildings due to its drainage nature and has been on spot of such accidents since 2012.
On the 8th of January 2020, a building in KANSANGA collapsed killing six people on the spot. The incident occurred along Mitala road when the building supported by concrete poles caved in burying six builders.
On the15th of December 2015, Five construction workers died and 3 others hospitalized after the wall of building they were constructing caved in. The Police blamed the accident at the site at KANSANGA Trading Centre in Kampala on the negligence of the site engineer.
On the 11th August 2014, A six storied building next to Olympia Hotel in KANSANGA collapsed.
In 2012, a building under construction collapsed in Kansanga.
