KABALE
Two unidentified adult males were intercepted with stolen items and beaten to death. On September 26, 2024, at around 8:30 am, a group of locals in Kaliba village, Kaharo parish, attacked and killed two suspected thieves.
The victims allegedly stole from a moving truck on September 25th and were caught by villagers while attempting to escape with the stolen merchandise.
Police has condemned the incident, urging the public to allow the law to take its course.
“We warn individuals against stealing from trucks in motion, as this puts them at risk of severe consequences”, said ASP Elly Maate, PRO Kigezi region police.
Maate noted that this act is also common in Rubanda where robbers use the climbing lanes as an advantage to rob the slow moving heavy vehicles.
Maate has encouraged those with missing relatives to check in hospital mortuary where bodies were taken at Kabale Referral Hospital for examination.
