Two passengers have been confirmed dead after a commuter taxi inwhich veered off the road and fell into a subway along the Nile Avenue.
The accident occured on Friday evening at around 1930hrs at Nile avenue, Radio one village,central division in the Kampala District.
ASP Faridah Nampiima, the spokesperson directorate of police traffic and road safety says the accident involved two motor vehicles; a commuter taxi (number plate still unknown) and a toyota hiace Reg no UAW 987Y.
She said two passengers have been killex and scores (unidentified) sustained injuries
It’s alleged that the said commuter taxi was traveling from the direction of speak road facing clement road with unidentified numbers of passengers on board on a high speed, and while approaching a sharp corner it failed to break and failed to negotiate the corner, it eventually fell down inside the UBC subway roundabout killing two occupants on spot and many unidentified sustained serious injuries.
She said that police fire and rescue team rushed the injured victims to Mulago hospital and bodies of the deceased delivered to City mortuary for postmortem.
