Pip! Ugandans are yearning for a great lot in life from the presidential parliamentary address slated today Thursday March 16, at Kololo Independence Grounds but, a twist of fate may show them a dark world of possibilities.
At the beginning of this week, the Presidential Press Unit (PPU) reported that president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will today on Thursday 16th March, 2023, address the parliament on matters of National Importance at Kololo independence grounds at 2PM
This followed previous communication by the speaker of Parliament Anitah Among on Thursday last week inwhich she informed the house that the president would be coming to address parliament today calling on members to turn up in large numbers.
According to a press release by PPU dated March 13, the address will be televised on all radios and TVs.
“The proceedings will be live on all Radios, TV Stations and digital
platforms.Tune In!” read excerpts of a release.
Article 101(2) of the constitution of the Republic of Uganda grants the president powers to address the parliament at any time of his will.
The address comes at a time when parliament is faced with burning issues on Anti – Homosexuality Bill, Karamoja Iron sheets scandal and the NSSF Probe report. It’s however, not yet clear if the move to address parliament is based on redressing any of the aforementioned issues in the house.
Ugandans are so hopeful that the president will give the next cause of actions against his ministers who have been implicated in various recent scandals such as the lucrative Karamoja Mabaati, mismanagement of funds at the NSSF, ongoing abductions of Ugandans among other national affairs. Will it be expectations coming true or a dark world of possibilities?
