Two members of the same family were on Wednesday (March 15) announced dead after they were struck by lightning.
The deceased are Tukwasibwe Enoth, 30 and his mother Jolly Baryakabuza, 75, both residents of Keita Village, Nyabitete Parish, Bugangari Subcounty in Rukungiri district.
Eyewitnesses say that the lightning struck while Baryakabuza was in the kitchen preparing supper and her son Tukwasubwe was in the main house with his father. They died on spot.
Luckily, the father survived the strike but he is reportedly unconscious due to the shocking death of his wife and son.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police mouthpiece appeals to residents to be cautious of such disasters especially during this rain season.
This is a second incidence of members of same family being killed by lightning in the Kigezi sub region with the recent reported in Rubanda district less than a week ago
