Ugandan international Abdu Aziz Kayondo continued his impressive run of form, scoring his first-ever goal for Slovan Liberec in their 4-0 thrashing of Slovacko in the Czech Republic’s top-flight league.
The 22-year-old defender from Kalungu showcased his exceptional skill, lobbing the ball into the net from 30 yards out following a quickly taken corner kick in the 58th minute. This stunning goal capped off an impressive performance by Slovan Liberec, securing their convincing victory.
Kayondo’s goal marked his second significant contribution in 11 games, having previously provided an assist in a 2-2 draw against Bohemians last month. His impressive display is expected to bolster his confidence and strengthen both Slovan Liberec’s and Uganda Cranes’ squads.
A product of St. Mary’s Kitende, Kayondo began his footballing journey at the school before joining Vipers’ junior and senior teams between 2018 and 2022.
During his tenure with Vipers, he secured an impressive haul of domestic titles, including: Uganda Premier League,Uganda Cup,FUFA Super 8 tournament.
On the international stage, Kayondo has been a promising presence for Uganda’s national team since 2021. His recent goal against Congo Brazzaville in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers at Mandela National Stadium underscored his potential.
As Slovan Liberec aims for a higher finish and challenges top teams like Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague, Kayondo’s goal-scoring debut is a significant boost. His continued success will undoubtedly strengthen Uganda Cranes’ prospects in international competitions.
