The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued a final reminder to all heads of examination centres at both primary and secondary levels to ensure that all eligible learners are registered for the 2025 national examinations by midnight on Sunday, June 15.
In a communication released through the Principal Private Secretary, Jennifer Kalule Musamba, UNEB emphasized the urgency of completing the registration process within the set deadline. The Board warned that any candidates not registered by then will only be accepted during the late registration window, which will attract a surcharge on the normal fees.
UNEB, a statutory national assessment body established in 1983, is responsible for organizing and managing national examinations at the end of each educational cycle in Uganda. These include the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
According to the latest circular, registration fees remain unchanged, with PLE set at UGX 34,000, UCE at UGX 164,000, and UACE at UGX 186,000.
The Board has reminded stakeholders that the Ugandan government sponsorship does not extend to late registration surcharges, prompting UNEB to urge heads of government-aided schools to ensure timely registration.
So far, 1,372,015 candidates have been registered for the 2025 examination cycle. This includes 809,384 candidates for PLE, 404,682 for UCE, and 157,949 for UACE.
UNEB has also advised all centres to verify candidate bio-data before final submission, paying close attention to details such as the correct spelling and order of names, and date of birth, which must follow the Date/Month/Year format. Candidates or schools requiring amendments after submission have been instructed to contact UNEB directly.
