The Uganda National Examinations Board-UNEB has released the results of the 2022 Primary Leaving Examinations-PLE, this afternoon. The results indicate an improved performance in Division one aggregates.
The results indicate that 146,170 pupils out of a total of 832,810 candidates obtained aggregates in Division one. This is far above the performance in the previous year in which 81,864 out of a total 749,761 candidates obtained aggregates in first grade.
UNEB secretary Dan Odong says that more pupils qualify to join the post-primary institutions. A total 714,702 candidates passed the PLE comparedto 659,910 the previous year
” In 2022, more candidates obtained Division 1 and Division 2 than in 2020. The overall pass levels are comparable between the two years. In terms of numbers, 714,702 candidates passed the PLE comparedto 659,910 the previous year,” Dan Odongo said
According to Odong, there was poor performance in Social Studies, Religious education (SST).
English and Mathematics were the best-done subjects, while science recorded improvement in performances

A total of 832,810 candidates were registered to sit for last year’s national examinations from 14,153 Centres. Of these, 583,769 were examined from Universal Primary Education – UPE schools while 249,041 candidates were examined from private centers.
Meanwhile, UNEB has withheld results for some candidates due to malpractice. According to Odongo, the most common cases of malpractice were in the form of external assistance.
“All candidates whose results have been withheld will only receive them after they have been cleared by the board’s examinations security committee as required by law.”
