Police in Kabale is stranded with a body of unidentified man which was found floating in a river.
The body was retrieved from River Rwabakazi in Rushaki cell, southern Division, in Kabale Municipality.
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, the body was first seen by Paskali (surname unknown), a Cattle keeper when he was looking after animals in the farm of late Byaruhanga Douglas on Tuesday evening.
“He informed Mwanjari police that later also informed the D/CID Officer Kabale […] D/SP Mukama Hakim (District CID officer) with Homicide, crime intelligence and fire rescue service team proceeded to the scene where they found the body lying therin,” Police reported
Maate said the body had started to decompose making it difficult to identify the deceased.
“Upon retrieving it from the waters, It had decomposed to the level of making it hard to be identified,” Maate explained.
He asked anyone with a missing relative or friend to visit Kabale hospital mortuary where the body was conveyed for a postmortem examination.
“Any person missing the dear one should visit the hospital mortuary, so that is identified and taken for a descent burial,” he urged.
Meanwhile, Police attributed the cause of death to suspected drowning as inquiries into circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing under file reference number CRB 020/2024
