In a final campaign push for the Kisoro District Woman Member of Parliament by-election, Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) President, Hon. Jimmy Akena, rallied supporters at Nyarusiza Sub County headquarters in Bufumbira South, Kisoro District to back the party’s candidate, Comrade Ingabire Mable.
“This is the time for change and the return of UPC in Kisoro District and the entire country,” he proclaimed, urging residents to vote for party’s flag bearer, Ingabire.
Speaking at a rally in Karabosha Trading Centre, Muramba Sub County, Ingabire pledged to focus on improving local livelihoods, and advocated for change in district leadership.
“I urge you to bring leaders who matter,” she said. “I will work hard to uplift the well-being of the poor through government projects, creating meaningful progress for the people of Kisoro.”
Meanwhile, President Yoweri Museveni was also campaigning in Kisoro, drumming up support for National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Rose Kabagyenyi in Muramba Sub County. The president also handed over the official NRM party flag to Kabagyenyi, encouraging Kisoro residents to vote for the party’s flag bearer in the upcoming election. “Let us vote massively for our candidate,” Museveni urged, underscoring his confidence in the NRM’s ability to serve Kisoro.
With campaign activities now closed, the Kisoro District is preparing for Thursday’s critical vote which has attracted six contestants. Daniel Nayebare, the Kisoro District Electoral Commission Returning Officer, confirmed that all necessary voting materials have arrived and are ready for the Woman Member of Parliament by-election on Thursday, November 14.
