The Democratic Party – DP youth wing have dismissed with contempt speech by president Museveni inwhich he linked the recent attacks on security officers to opposition and ADF.
The youth under their umbrella, Uganda Young Democrats say that Museveni’s allegations are baselles
“As Uganda Young Democrats we strongly disagree with the president’s speech because it’s baseless,” he said
President Museven in his last Presidential address linked the attacks on police stations to ADF and opposition.
This followed days after internal affairs Minister Gen. Kahinda otafiire ruled out the links to any rebel group and instead he linked them to security personels and mere criminals.
Speaking to journalists at DP offices at City House Kampala on Tuesday, the UYD president Ismail Kirya questioned the competence of the Inspector General of Police Martins Okoth Ochola when many Ugandans are being unlawfully abducted.
The youth demanded that police and other security agencies release all Ugandans in detention on unclear charges.
“Do not transfer your incompetence to keeping Ugandans on the opposition,” UYD youth advises Museveni.
“When the president had just appointed the IGP Martin Okoth Ochola we all had hopes of restoring the impunity of Uganda Police, but this is the officer who has done more harm than good on Uganda police,”
Citing out Muslim cleric Sheikh Yahaya Mwanje who was recently abducted by unknown security personnel in plain cloths, the youth tasked government to explain reasons for kidnapping of moslems.
“To our surprise Moslems are the target in all these arrests however this is not a surprise to us.” UYD said
