Victoria University has pledged its support for Pastor Wilson Bugembe’s upcoming celebration marking 20 years in gospel music, slated for August 8, 2025, at Serena Hotel Kampala.
While launching the celebrations at the University campus, Vice Chancellor Prof. Lawrence Muganga praised Pastor Bugembe for his inspirational music, which he said has offered hope and healing to many, especially during difficult times.
“Bugembe’s music has the power to comfort the broken-hearted. That’s why we’re proud to support him as he celebrates this milestone,” said Prof. Muganga.
He further challenged students and the youth to embrace their talents and leverage opportunities presented by emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“We are in the era of AI, and students must harness this tool not only to ease their work but to transform into job creators rather than job seekers,” Muganga noted. He emphasized that AI offers a platform for innovation and economic empowerment, particularly for young people willing to learn and adapt.
During the same event, Pastor Bugembe criticized government officials pushing for the mandatory registration of all Pentecostal churches and their leaders.
“Streamlining churches is a good initiative, but it should be done by people who understand the Pentecostal faith,” Bugembe said. “The government should work with credible leaders from within the church who can identify trustworthy institutions instead of assigning people who may act out of jealousy or ignorance.”
Bugembe’s remarks follow reports that Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka had directed the NGO Bureau and the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) to stop demanding that Balokole (Pentecostal) churches, especially those involved solely in spiritual work register under the NGO Act.
