The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has issued a statement addressing concerns raised by applicants regarding the ongoing e-recruitment process for Census Enumeration Supervisors and Enumerators. The bureau has received reports of qualified individuals being excluded from the shortlisting process, while unqualified candidates are being selected. Additionally, there have been complaints of conmen soliciting money from applicants in exchange for participation in interview processes.
To rectify these issues, UBOS has announced that the display of shortlisted candidates will continue until Friday, 12th April 2024. This will allow for any errors to be reported and reviewed by the recruitment team. Applicants who have concerns regarding the recruitment process are encouraged to lodge complaints with evidence of their application. Furthermore, UBOS has emphasized that no money should be paid by any shortlisted candidate during the recruitment process. Any individual requesting payment should be reported to the nearest police station for investigation.
The Census recruitment portal was closed on 22nd March 2024, and there is no further solicitation of applicants for Enumeration Supervisors and Enumerators. UBOS is committed to conducting a transparent and fair recruitment process, as an Equal Opportunity Employer. For further information, the Department of Public & Media Relations can be contacted at +256755342128 and +256772933628.
UBOS reassures the public of their dedication to ensuring a successful Census 2024, under the leadership of Dr. Chris N Mukiza, the Executive Director and Census Commissioner. The slogan “It Matters to be Counted” highlights the significance of accurate population and housing data for effective planning and development in Uganda.
