A prison warder attached to Kiboga government prison is on the run after he shot dead three people at the facility .
The incident happened on Monday, February 23, at about 1000hrs, at the prison facility.
The suspect has been identified as Warder Anguyo Moses (No. 13544). He allegedly opened fire on his supervisors one civilian in suspected aggravated murder.
Frank Baine Mayanja, the UPS spokesperson identified the deceased Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine, the Deputy Officer in Charge; Principal Officer I Akishuri Bright, the third in command; and Sarah Ayebare, the spouse of the Officer in Charge.
“Police was immediately called in and secured the scene of the crime. Joint security operations are currently pursuing the suspect,” Baine said.
Police recovered the firearm used in the shooting. However, the suspect remains at large and is considered dangerous.
Baine explained that the motive of the shooting had not been established by press time, but noted that further details are expected as investigations continue.
He urged members of the public with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to report to relevant authorities.
