The Najjanankumbi faction for Forum for Democratic Change FDC has said that they are closely working with the opposition National Unity Platform NUP
On November 3, NUP opened its new offices in Makerere Kavule, Kawempe Division, Kampala which was attended by several guests from different political parties. Controversial debate arose when some top leaders of FDC Katonga group attended the office opening event yet none of the Najjanankumbi top leaders attended the event.
There has been speculations on social media that the FDC Najjanankumbi group is not in mutual relations with NUP. But, the party spokesperson John Kikonyogo said on Monday November 13 that there are no indifferences between the two political groups. He did not divulge into details of invitations but said NUP are free to invite anybody they want.
“We are not too much involved in their opening of office. So, if they choose to invite people from the other side they’re free to do what they wish,” said Kikonyogo.
Pointing out the ongoing boycott of parliamentary plenaries by opposition MPs over human rights violations, Kikonyogo noted that there are many ways of working together as opposition political groups especially on related national issues.
By publication time, this publication was yet to establish whether or not NUP invited FDC leadership at Najjanankumbi to their office opening ceremony.
