The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is set for a decisive week as two senior party figures Hon. Patrick Amuriat Oboi and Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi.
Both candidates were officially nominated and cleared by the party’s electoral commission, setting the stage for an intense but internal democratic contest. The final decision will be made on Thursday, July 31, during a highly anticipated National Delegates Conference.
The selected candidate will be formally presented to the country at the same event, which will draw delegates from all of FDC’s 21 sub-regions across Uganda.
Party elders have appealed for unity, urging the losing camp to rally behind the winner in the spirit of building a stronger, cohesive front to challenge the ruling establishment.
“This is not a battle between enemies. It’s a contest among comrades, and the bigger picture is the future of Uganda”, said the party spokesperson Mr John Kikonyogo.
Additionally, the FDC’s National Executive Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss and approve the budget that will facilitate the entire election process.
