Police in Mukono has in custody a 40-year-old woman for allegedly attempting to murder her husband by mutilating his genitals.
The suspect, only identified as Rehema, a resident of Busoigo cell, Kasoigo ward, Kamuli municipality. She allegedly attacked her husband, Richard Masanka, 60, on June 6, while they were in bed, strangled him and cut off his left testicle using a sharp knife.
Eyewitnesses say that the victim made alarm which attracted the neighbours who rushed him to Kwagala Medical Centre in Buwengepya before transferring him Kamuli General Hospital for further management.
The Busoga North region police spokesperson, Micheal Kasadha confirmed the report, stating that the suspect is in their custody and currently detained at Kamuli Central Police Station.
“She will be charged with attempted murder and assault under the penal code Act,” Kasadha said.
Police preliminary investigations indicate that the couple has been having a longstanding dispute.
