A woman in Tororo District has returned home from her workplace following false reports announcing her death.
Rose Akwera, daughter of Paul Otenge and a resident of Angorom – West Nile Village, Morukatipe Sub-county, Tororo District, was mistakenly identified as an unidentified girl whose body was discovered dumped at Nyamatunga Bridge in neighboring Mella Sub-county on June 30.
Reports indicate that her family visited the hospital mortuary, identified the body as hers, and even cleared hospital bills in preparation for burial.
However, upon hearing a death announcement about her over a local radio station, Akwera quickly took a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) home to clear the confusion.
Eyewitnesses say her sudden appearance caused panic among mourners, with some fleeing the burial site while others rushed to her home to witness the bizarre incident.
She was later escorted by her family to Tororo Central Police Station to officially disown the body that had been mistakenly identified as hers.
