LUWEERO
Police in Luweero district are investigating a case of murder by stabbing of 26-year-old housemaid by her jilted lover.
The savannah region police spokesperson Sam Twineamaziima said the incident occured on October 14 at around 4pm in Kalasa village, Makulubita subcounty, Luweero district.
He identified the victim as Jane Kyoshabire while the suspect is not yet identified.
According to Twineamazima, the suspect is the ex-husband to the deceased sister. It is alleged that the deceased had recently come to Luweero from Ntungamo on the invitation of the suspect to secure for her a job. However, this did not go as planned after the suspect deceived the victim that the employer did not want a Munyankore worker.
He later seduced her into a relationship but as time went by, the victim got a job at a home of Dorothy Nalubwama, a resident as a maid on October 8.
This according to police angered the suspect and he started following the victim. The matter was amicably resolved at the LC1 office on October 12 and the suspect promised not to follow her again.
Unfortunately, the following day (October 13) at around 4pm, the suspect reportedly went to the victim’s workplace guising as being unwell and requested to get back to the victim.
Twineamaziima says a fight ensued after the suspect grabbed the victim by hand before stabbing her twice in the stomach using a sharp knife.
The matter was reported to police by the area defense secretary and police swung into action but did not arrest the suspect because he had already taken to his heels.
“Relevant statements were taken from the witnesses and we are aggressively hunting for the suspect to face the law of his crime,” Twineamaziima said
Body of the deceased was conveyed to Mulago hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
Police attributed the killing as a crime of passion.
